This 8,300 sf new science building is part of a campus master planning undertaken by BAA to expand athletic and academic facilities for Xaverian Brothers High School. This project entailed a new academic wing which includes two laboratory spaces and five classrooms for their science and engineering programs. The space is designed to resemble what a typical lab and classroom would look like at a college or university level. The lab area opens up to the classroom without being separated by a wall or partition, allowing for easy transition between lecture and hands-on learning. Each lab is 1,700 square feet with six-foot fume hoods, gel electrophoresis equipment for analyzing DNA, new microscopes, and various other state-of-the-art equipment. This new academic wing allows for XBHS to expand their science curriculum and for students to gain the most out of their learning experience. The design/build project team successfully completed the 8,300 square foot addition in five months.
