This $50 million, 110,000 sf new construction, which opened in 2014, is a seven-story student apartment building that provides contemporary and comfortable on-campus housing for Wentworth juniors and seniors. The building contains a total of 72 dwelling units consisting of 51 four-bed apartments, 20 five-bed apartments and one resident director apartment. Each unit is organized around an open common space with framed window views of the cityscape. Additional building amenities include offices, bicycle-storage room and transparent gathering spaces at the ground floor level, which activates the building’s relationship with the neighborhood. All apartments have high quality finishes, full kitchens, living rooms, bathrooms and in-unit laundry facilities, creating a feeling of “home.”
There is a new plaza area in front of the building along Huntington Avenue with plantings, pedestrian seating, a sculpture to be designed by Wentworth students and a new Hubway bicycle station. Touted as the “next generation of Wentworth buildings,” this energy efficient residential hall encourages students to live on campus, improving a sense of campus community and increasing student safety.
