Beacon Architectural Associates in collaboration with Aramark Design Solutions completed renovations to the Cheney Dining Hall at Springfield College. The project renovated 23,400 sf of existing servery and dining areas to house the Fresh Food Company dining concept: an all-you-care-to-enjoy restaurant-like environment highlighting open kitchens with exhibition cooking and a wide variety of cooked-to-order selections such as Northern Kitchen, Café Roma, American Bakery, and the Cheney Grille. A glass-enclosed colonnade overlooking the main quad on campus floods the space with natural light, allowing views from both inside and outside. The design provides greater separation between stations for improved queueing and better pedestrian flow. Various seating types and arrangements help to create a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The renovated facility has become a popular meeting spot on campus where students, faculty, staff and guests can eat, gather, work, and play.
