Town of Georgetown - Peabody Library

Georgetown, Massachusetts

The renovation and expansion of the historic Peabody Library in Georgetown, MA addressed the needs of this growing town, more than doubling the library area to 17,000sf. The two story addition includes stack and reading areas, children’s areas, and rooms for library programs. The design complements the original Georgian style building and responds to the neighborhood context while providing a new light-filled, accessible public entry to the library. Site improvements included expansion of parking and installation of new landscaping elements to give focus to the green behind the library. The library and green together have combined to create a municipal center that reinforces the historic Georgetown downtown. In collaboration with library planners Adams & Smith.
