Blue Hills Rest Station, Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation
The Blue Hill Rest Station was designed at the turn of the 20th Century by Stickney and Austin, prominent architects for the Metropolitan Park Commission. The Rest Station was part of a campus of buildings designed to encourage year-round use of the Blue Hills Reservation. The Massachusetts’s Department of Conservation and Recreation retained Beacon to develop the reuse, modernization and restoration of this historic structure. The scope included exterior restoration and an interior refurbishment of the rest station, with an emphasis on water conservation.
